With smartphone games to play and social media status updates to read, not to mention juggling all their work, home, and family responsibilities, parents are more distracted than ever before. A 2014 Highlights study found that 62% of kids between the ages of 6 and 12 feel their parents are distracted.
To avoid being in that group:
Try to be present when you're around your kids.
Put the phone away when you go to the park.
Log off of social media when it's homework time.
Please pay attention to their sporting events, recitals, and school performances. If you're working from home, do it in a dedicated space away from kids if you can, so you do not have to divide your attention all day long.
